TT’s Simpug 205 : The carnage begins

Sunday 6th April 2014. Alas, poor Impreza Wagon, we knew ye well. Keith, look away now.

I kicked off this morning at 10am, sorting the track car for it’s retest. All set and ready to go with a passenger door handle and no more air bag light, my full attention could be turned to the Simpug. Break out the spanners.

First things first, lets get the weight down a touch. Doors? Where we’re going, we don’t need doors.

Good start so far. Big props to Andy McCann for helping lift stuff and swing spanners today too. Chat’s still rubbish though. 😀

Next up, we clipped this free bird’s wings. Right aff. Shades of Delorean here…

The front bumper bar simply wasn’t there. Rotted away to a tiny little strip of clumpy dust. Guess that makes stripping easier. You can see a bit of surface rust on the odd bracket etc but the chassis itself is nice and solid so won’t need much fetlling other than the main surgery.

And here we finished up a few hours later. Gentlemen, start your grinders…

I’ve measured up some more and the wings are going to mount perfectly. The windscreen will sit where I want and the engine will definitely fit in the bay. The radiator is definitely going to cause issues as there’s simply no room for it at the front. Thought will be needed but in the grand scheme of things it’s nowt.

Prop shaft and exhaust centre section will be removed and then I can get the Impreza off the ramp, the 205 on and get cutting! I like cutting things up.

Stay tuned folks.
