TT’s Simpug 205 : Off with their heads

And so the teardown continues. This is where things get interesting. No way back. Bridges burnt. Into the abyss.

Fecking great fun I tell you.

Old bedsheets and tape at the ready :

And break out the hammer. Industrial hoover here very handy indeed to sook up as we go.

Pushed it in to the car in the sheet, folded it up and took it to the dump. Still a bit to clear up round the window seal but it’s out. Managed to get a piece of glass in my eye in the process and that’s where the hoover came in handiest. Should have been wearing safety goggles :/

Finally time to break out my favourite tool. Gentlemen,  start your grinders. 6 cutting discs later…

And we have an Impreza buggy.

So that is that. Certainly can’t bolt it back together now. I have a few cuts and bruises, biggest one from rattling my bunnet off the door. Been a painful day. Probably most for Keith when he sees this.

This allowed me to survey, sit down and think with a tape measure in my hand. There are some plusses and some negatives from each approach. Rebody or running gear transplant? Which way to go?

Here’s one very big positive. 205 bonnet on the Impreza bay. Shmert eh?

So you can see where I’m going with this. The engine and rads etc will just fit in the 205 engine bay. And I mean just! But this would mean retaining the solidity of the frame. Transplant or rebody…?

Or just fit a big cage and go sliding this about. Join us on the forum for more discussion and input, anything you can add is appreciated.
