SJCAM and other GoPro alternatives

SJCAM and other GoPro alternatives

Postby EcurieArgyll » Tue Jul 14, 2015 2:54 pm

Anyone tried an SJCAM SJ4000 or SJ5000 ?
One quarter the price of a GoPro, so tempting to have three of those for multiple angles and still save some money
Any other worthwhile alternatives?

I'm about to take delivery of 6 of the basic Go-Pro Hero model. You can get them for about £90-100.
Will do some tests and report back on how they compare with the Hero 4.

Look forward to that. What's the spec difference?

The convenience of the Go Pro and being able to control with your iPhone is a good thing for me and makes it easier.

Have a look at the products page: http://shop.gopro.com/EMEA/cameras/
There is a quite a big difference in spec across the range now - too much for me to remember!
When this order arrives I will have access to 2x Hero4 Black and 6x Hero basic. Also going to have some pretty nice mount options with the Red Rock Micro Cobalt Cages and some mic adaptors.

Some serious testing will be required with these!

Go the new Go Pros and various accessories earlier in the week.
Going to attempt some testing this week but things are very busy just now!

The current range of Gopro's are all the old gopro's in new boxes, so the hero basic I think is a hero2, the silver is a hero3 and the only new one is the hero4. The quality from the 3 and 4's is actually pretty damn good. Not so good in low light though but no tiny sensor cameras are.

John.

We got the new ones delivered last week.
Not had a chance to try yet but I will be looking to do some testing this week.

Got a lot of new mounts and accessories too, including the 3.5mm mic adapter.

Look forward to hearing. Got a euro trip planned next month and would like to get some footage. I have a GoPro 2 but would like to have more than one on the go

So much for my plans eh. This new baby thing takes up a fair bit of time...
When do you head off John?

I might be able to work out something with bits of kit to help out if you want.
Still keen to do some proper testing with these cameras and all the new accessories but I will need to work it into the new schedule!
I have had a Hero 4 and basic Hero sat here for nearly 2 weeks now.
