Porsche's next model

Porsche's next model

Postby OlberJ » Fri Jul 25, 2014 6:22 pm

Spotted this on the Pistonheads Bentley article :

The new 'fifth' car he said could be built on the modular MSB platform being developed by Porsche. Reports say this is likely to be a front-engined lightweight platform with four-whee drive capability that'll underpin the next Panamera.

Could this mean we might have a new 944/968/928 in the offing?

This excites me! A lot.

There's supposed to be a new baby Boxster on the way with a flat four - turbo charged though :-(

I am still surprised nothing was spun off the Panamera platform already.
It seems such a capable car in current form that with a little shortening, paring back and tuning towards performance/handling it could be a very capable car in the 928 fashion to take on the CL/S coupe.

There was a mock 2 door 928 made up on the Panamera with 996 body panels. It was only a test car so didn't make much more than a fleeting appearance. The other issue that seemed to be created by the purists was the name. The 929 was actually a Mazda? or something and they thought the numerical naming convention should continue. Not a real issue I though.

That video car looks not bad but a bit too 911.
Imagine that V8 TT engine in something 150-200kg lighter than a Panamera.

I'm not sure the flat 6 turbo engine physically fits up front? Would need to be a V8. Buy you're right, it does look like a big fat 911.
