997 turbo or C4S

997 turbo or C4S

Postby Pepsi_Max » Sun Nov 15, 2015 12:43 pm

The 996 turbo is moving on and the spring will mean the arrival of the next 911. As it will be used almost daily and all year, I'm staying with 4wd. It has to be a manual this time and I'm torn between another turbo or a newer / lower mileage C4S. I prefer the looks, noise and lower costs of the C4S but the epic performance and lower depreciation of the Turbo.

Decisions, decisions.....

Depending on your budget of course.
997.2 C4S has dual benefits of DFI engine and PDK but you want a manual.
997.1 4S you risk engine bills.
Early 997 turbo has good manual box and mezger engine, but only one I know well was a complete lemon and broke down frequently....luckily under warranty.

Probably manual 997.2 with PSE if you want a steer.

Boost is addictive, and I've got the bug. The delivery of power on the C4S is more linear, I've only driven a tip' and it was so much fun. For me it would be a Turbo, but I'd rather have a good C4S over a bad Turbo....if you know what I mean? There is no right or wrong answer, so you'll need to start test driving them all. :D

Decisions Decisions. My vote would be for the 997 Turbo Gen1, manual.
In fact that's the very beast I bought. :-) and if I knew how to post pics I would. lol

Fully recommend Lawton Brook, that's where I bought my 996 Turbo. Guy named Russell ( I'm sure it was? ) that I dealt with. I went back a month later and got them to source a Focus ST3 for me. Great service. :D

Very Nice Al! Did you dispose of one of your fleet or did you just buy another AL plate? :)
