Unlocking with key

I've just bought a Boxster S and the car doesn't lock or unlock with the fob. I locked it with the key in the door but on unlocking the alarm went off and only went off when I turned on the ignition.

Is there a way to reset the key?

The key fobs both light up when pressed suggesting the battery in the fob is ok.

Looking to the TT collective for advice.

I can offer no assistance but would love some pics and to know the spec :-)

Sounds like the key may need recoding.
Sadly it's the car that is coded to the key so bend over.
A good indie might do it...if not it's OPC.
Does the key start the car?

Once in the car I put the key in the ignition, turn it on and the alarm stops. Car starts no problem

I believe there is a system reset which can be done after a period of inactivity. Just need to find out what that is.

Same with our 986s.

As above, needs coded and it's dealer only afaik.
