Turbo specialists?

Turbo specialists?

Postby poprock » Fri Mar 18, 2016 1:10 pm

Anyone have a good turbocharger specialist to recommend? Glasgow, for preference.

Not every garage is careful enough with turbo swaps etc, so I’d like to talk to a specialist.

My 996 X50 K24 Turbo is at Turbo repair Glasgow in Underwood Road Paisley after a recommendation from another TT'er. Mine needs parts that are NLA and it's taking time to source, however he done a very good job of Ted's Maserati Turbo last year.

Either, really. Looking for prices to help decide.

The turbo in my Coupé’s slowly on the way out. Getting noisy, which I’m assuming is the bearings. It’s not far enough gone to be smoking excessively yet, but sounds like it might be heading in that direction.

I’ve got my eye on a refurbed s/h unit currently going on eBay, because I don’t want to spend too much (the car’s not worth big outlays). If I get that, I’ll want someone to swap it in. If I don’t, I’ll probably be looking for someone to refurb the one already in the car. New cores are easily sourced, it seems.

I used the turbo guy a couple of years back to balance a turbo that I'd rebuilt myself.

Very helpful guy and he seemed to know his stuff.
