My Caterham 620R

My Caterham 620R

Well it's finally arrived and it's fair to say that it lives up to the hype, what an absolute hoot to drive.
Delighted with the car and can't wait to get it on to track.

My shoulders still hurt today! Way way wwwaaaayyyyyy fast!! It's bizarre I have driven a skyline on the same road at a probably a similar speed than last nights little blast and it's amazing how having no roof, doors or windscreen can scare the living day lights out of you.

It got Elise's approval tho and that's what counts lol.

Thanks for the comments.
Highlander, no problem we will be seeing you on the Highland Hoon in July I hope. The date will be confirmed next week sometime.

About 150 miles done now, you really do have to watch the fuel level, it doesn't half go down quick!
Really happy with the noise, it's loud enough for me, I would love a side exit so will wait and see how you get on with yours first.

Absolutely loving driving it, it's great the amount of positive gestures you get in it from folks and I have not had to wait long at junctions!

The gearbox is my favourite bit, amazing the speed of changing gear on a flat shift up.

Looks fantastic Craig, congratulations!
Look forward to a passenger ride sometime a) if I can fit in and b) if I'm feeling brave enough!

You will need to send the videos through, promise to get the go pro and mic mounted next trip for some decent footage.

My youngest sister, also a petrol head came up to see it last night, fair to say she was a little shell shocked after a blast!

Cheers.
I am back at work now but will get plenty videos fired up when I get back.

Still waiting for the registration number from the DVLA but hoping for that in the next week or so.
Its a bit of a pain as the insurance is based on the chassis number and I have 30 days to give them the number plate or they cancel the insurance. Any delays with the DVLA would be a bit of a headache.

Delighted with the white, its Audi Ibis, it was either that or the Vauxhall version but mine is a bit brighter, I parked next to a VXR and it certainly looked whiter.

I wish I was at home!

Heading to Alford on the 3rd July and will be down at KH too asap, got to fit its first service in too

Well I got the side exit fitted. It sounds fab - lovely growl that reminds me of my previous R500 with the raceline throttle bodies. Nice bang on the upshift as the unburnt fuel explodes, and once warm a great bit of rumbling on the overrun without being too poppy.

However the downside (as expected) - passed the static noise test at Oulton Park at 102db (original exhaust is 101db) but was black flagged because it failed the drive-by because of the bang on flatshifting. It is substantially lighter though (and has no catalyst so potentially a bit more poke from the engine) so will keep it on for circuits with more relaxed driveby rules like Knockhill or Spa.

That sounds perfect, I like the idea of having flames, last time with that was the Evo's. VOSA dipped mine as it was 100.6 db but it got through the following week OK.
I will be at Knockhill on the 4th at midday for a lesson, be good to get a catch up if you are about and a run out

I fitted the boot liners from soft bits as well as the tunnel top bag which is a must have!
Got a storm force cover for the overnighters but not had it on yet, also got a set of DRL shiftlights to fit
