Polished / Buffer

Postby BobbyG » Wed May 17, 2017 12:01 am

I am strictly a DIYer at home with no fancy cars but like to keep the families cars washed and polished, usually using Autoglym products.
However I was wondering about investing about £50-75 on an electric polished thingy to save my elbow grease!
Anyone able to recommend a suitable product in that price scale?
I saw Europarts had one on offer this week , a Hofftech, but no idea if any good?

If a DIYer like myself, then stick to a duel action (DA) - no chance of burning the paint with that. You will need clay or a clay mitt/cloth to remove engrained pollen/grim before polishing or no matter which ever machine you use, you will either embed the dirt or worse, pull it onto the pad and score the paintwork.
My yearly detail routine is:

PH neutral Wash & rinse
Clay paintwork
DA polish
Top coat ( I use old school carenuba wax but there are some excellent newer products out there which last longer)

If I was nearer, I would show you how easy, and fun, using a DA is. Maybe there is someone on here nearer you who will offer? If not, there are loads of vids on YouTube to guide you.
