Itβs great to see McLaren with a presence in Scotland and sales have already been going well for the new dealership. Β The showroom had a some new additions for the evening including a 650S GT car and a stunning P1 which looked fantastic in its track only race mode which lowers the suspension 50 mm and fully extends the rear spoiler. Β Also present was an ex David Coulthard F1 car which has been in the showroom for a few weeks now and is greatΒ to see close up.
As well as the main showroom, there was also aΒ pit stop challenge event where guests could time themselves changing wheels on an F1 car β the world record for which is apparently a barely believable 1.9 seconds! Β Besides the cars, entertainment for the evening was provided byΒ magician DMC who performed some incredible card tricks β if you havenβt heard of him and youβre a fan of David Blaine/Dynamo style magic then check him out.
The event was extremely well attended and guests included Glasgowβs own singer/songwriter/petrolhead Amy MacDonaldβ¦ wonder if sheβs planning on buying something to keep her 458 Speciale company? Β Speaking of which the sister Bentley showroom next doorΒ currently has this gorgeousΒ Speciale on displayβ¦
This should be an exciting year for McLaren with a new model, codenamed P13 being launched to join the current 650S and 650S Spider. Β The P13 will sit below the 650S and is expected to be at a price point where it will compete with the upper end of the Porsche 911 range. Β Itβs spec sounds very promising so we look forward to seeing it in the metal later in the year!
Unfortunately due to restrictions and very limited time we werenβt ableΒ to produce a full video of the event as we had hoped but hereβs a taster of the evening & thanks to McLaren Glasgow for their hospitality.
