Last weekend saw the return of the classic and retro bike festival “Rewind” to Knockhill Racing Circuit. Running alongside a round of the Scottish Championship Bike Racing event, the festival comprises of a display of some very tasty 70s, 80s and 90s two wheeled legends and an open track day session.
The racing was close, the show bikes were varied and the sun was shining. You couldn’t ask for a better day out. 31 races in total with 2 track sessions slotted in between meant there was barely 30mins that the track wasn’t live with the sights, sounds and smells that we all love.
The car parks were full of enough interesting owners bikes to rival the show itself. Always a big bonus at these events.
Each round of racing from the 125s right up to the Superbikes provided thrills and spills all day. We took the opportunity to check out the new viewing areas around the track. There’s a couple of freshly constructed sheds to keep the rain and wind off but the find of the day is the new 3 tier section right on the hairpin. You’re treated with an excellent view of the bikes piling into the hairpin 3/4 a breast, rolling down the gears, leaning across one another and then hurtling away up the back straight (reverse track on the Sunday). It sounds and looks glorious.
Being so open was great in the sun but not sure the exposure will be as welcome in the winter months. Time will tell but it certainly added to the day for us. Sun burn to prove as the track temp hit a whopping 40 degrees!
All in all a great two wheel way to spend your weekend. We’ll be back for more as the Superbikes roll into town at the end of the month. See you all there.
