Today was a good day for petrolheads – TVR came back in style with the launch of the new Griffith at the Goodwood Revival and TT were there to see it in person!
The return of the Blackpool bruiser has been long anticipated and many doubted it would actually happen, but today has put to bed any uncertainly over their return.
Headlines are:
– 5 litre naturally aspirated V8
– Rear wheel drive
– Manual gearbox
– Approx 500 bhp
– 0-62 sub 4 seconds
– Top speed 200 mph
– Sub 1250 kg
– Approx £90K (for launch model)
Size wise, it’s smaller than a 718 Cayman, while the engine is a modified version of the Mustang unit. The price tag may sound pretty steep but hopefully this is just the start of a successful comeback for TVR and other models will follow.
The proof will be in the driving but with a team that includes Gordon Murray and Cosworth, hopes are high. Welcome back Trevor – you’ve been missed!
