2017 Car Launches at Geneva Motorshow

This year’s Geneva Motorshow is looking like a belter with loads of new supercars and a few interesting things for the rest of us mere mortals:

McLaren 720s

The replacement for the 650s is coming and it’s going to be faster accelerating, quicker to stop and……we don’t know much else yet.

  • 0-124mph in 7.8 sec
  • 124-0 in 4.6 seconds and 117 metres (six metres less than the 650S)

Ferrari 812 Superfast

We’ve already talked about this one but we’re so excited we’ll say it again.

  • 6.5-litre V12
  • 789bhp at 8500rpm and 526 lb ft at 7000rpm
  • top speed of 211mph and a 0-62 time of 2.9 sec

Techrules Supercar

Chinese owned and designed by Fabrizio and Giorgetto Giugiaro, this newcomer to the supercar world is clearly going for the jet fighter look. No key stats yet but they have said there will be a central driving position like the McLaren F1 and also that you’ll get in and out via a lifting canopy.

Huracan Performante

No news on the stats from the 5.2-litre V10 engine but we can expect it to be lighter, stiffer and quicker around a certain bit of road in Germany.

Alpine A120

We’ve been waiting ages on this rebirth of Alpine – will it be worth it? It’s got some stiff competition.

  • €55,000 and €60,000
  • 0 – 32 MPH in 4.5 sec

Honda Civic Type R

Meaner looking, wider, more powerful but sticking with FWD and a manual ‘box. We’re expecting near 350bhp which seems like madness when the current one is so quick.

Range Rover Velar

Filling the gaping hole in the Range Rover lineup between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport (we didn’t realise either) the Range Rover Velar promises to be “refined for every occasion

Volkswagen Arteon

The new top of the range (non SUV) VW now that there’s no Phaeton. The Arteon is the replacement for the Passat CC and promises to have the latest technology and driver aids combined with Audi levels of trim and luxury.
