Lamborghini Huracan Preview

I was lucky enough to get an invite to the very secret Lamborghini Huracan preview at Lamborghini Edinburgh last week, they didn’t allow any cameras so when I Googled for a picture of the new Lamborghini I got a lovely tractor, thankfully the  Huracan looks much better. When you think about it though Lambo have come a long way from the days when performance was measured in fields ploughed per day.

For anyone who lives without any communications and a tinfoil hat on their head the Huracan is the replacement to the very long standing and very successful Gallardo, the most successful car in Lamborghini’s history. Not before time it has to be said, the Gallardo has had more comebacks than Status Quo and was becoming every so slightly boring with special edition after special edition. To put the life of the Gallardo into perspective the Ferrari available when the Gallardo was released was the 360, since then we’ve had the 430 and 458 and next year will probably see the 458 replacement so it was critical that Lamborghini came out with something new.

The Gallardo will be a tough act to follow with over 14,000 cars sold but i have to say I think Lambo are definitely onto a winner with this one.

Exterior

This car really does look great, in typical Lambo fashion it’s a crazy looking thing, a baby Aventador would be accurate. An actual picture is below and anyone who doesn’t think this looks great either has no eyes or no soul.

Interior

Again they’ve done a great job, still has a hint of Audi but the interior is a great place to sit, nice chunky steering wheel with the biggest shift paddles I’ve ever seen and a customizable instrument panel that’s based on a bright LCD screen that’s sharp and very easy on the eye.

Performance

It’s pretty nippy, oh you want more than that, ok then, how does 0-60 in 3.2 seconds sound and 202 MPH top speed. The V10 engine produces 610 Bhp and coupled to a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox gives almost seamless shifts, the addition of dual clutch was probably in response to the number of whiplash claims that came from the single clutch box in the Aventador in Corsa mode.

Well that’s really all we have for now, customer cars should start being delivered in September this year so demonstrators should be available around July, look out for an update when we get the chance to drive it.

Bravo Lamborghini, good job!
