Our most anticipated cars of 2014

We should probably have published this post at the end of December / start of January, but we’re not exactly Top Gear magazine and we were too busy polishing off the remnants of the Christmas chocolates.

We imagine that by the time some of these cars do hit the streets, the manufacturers will be filling our inboxes with requests for us to test and review them!

In no particular order, here are 2014’s most anticipated cars from the TT founders:

Lee (aka Angelus) – Porsche 991 GT3

Porsche 991 gt3

With a Nordschleife time of under 7:30, is this the Porsche to make the stunning Ferrari 458 Speciale look poor value? The Ferrari is no doubt that bit more (ahem) Speciale, but the new GT3 has to be the ultimate car to drive to a track, hammer it round for a couple of hours and then have a relaxing drive home?

  • Top speed of 195mph
  • 475bhp

John (aka Steelej) – Lamborghini Huracan

Lamborghini Huracan

With less interest in lap times, the Gallardo replacement from Lamborghini is more about power, presence and drama. Looking at the press images (some lucky people will get to see it in the flesh this Friday at Graypaul Edinburgh), Lamborghini seem to have moved the design on just enough to enable the Huracan to take on the 458 and the 12-C while not making it quite as aggressive as the Aventador.

  • Top speed of 202
  • 601bhp

Mike (aka Mikey) – F-TYPE R Coupé

Jag F-TYPE RCoupe

Some would argue that is car is even more exciting than the already released convertible, and that it’s a real chance for Jaguar to propel themselves back into the big league next to Porsche. The combination of a refreshing look, but with hints of the old E-Type, make this Jag slightly more interesting than the new 991 Porsche (in my eyes). Whether it will be as good a steer as the Porsche, we’ll just need to wait to get out hands on one to find out.

  • 0-60 in 4.0 seconds
  • Top speed 186 (limited)
  • 550bhp (supercharged)

Olie (aka Olberj) – Honda NSX

Honda NSX

While not all of us are quite sure this will be on sale in 2014, every single one of us hopes that it does. The original NSX from 1990(!) is one of the best cars I have ever driven so the prospect of a 2014 update is very appealing. Some slight worries that we do have, are that it’s going to be AWD and there is going to be hybrid gubbins involved. Hopefully we won’t need to wait too long to get the final details.

  • Top speed ???
  • 400(ish)bhp

Andrew (aka Andrew[MG]) – BMW M3/M4

bmw m4

Never mind the new naming convention, this is going to be the best new car for sale in 2014! More powerful, lighter, more efficient, better looking and now with the tunability of having twin turbos, the new M3/4 is once again going to take the fight to Merc, Audi and Porsche and come out winning. I’ve still got my heart set on owning an e46 M3 but out of the cars released in 2014, this would be the top of my shopping list.

  • 0-60 in 4.3 seconds
  • Top speed of 155 (limited, more likely to be about 190)
  • 431bhp

While we smash open our piggy banks and beg the press offices of Porsche, Lamborghini, Jaguar, Honda and BMW, why don’t you let us know you most anticipated cars for 2014, over on the forums.
