April Classic Car Auction Bargains

What better way is there to brighten up a Monday morning back at work than to dream about picking up a classic car bargain and spending the summer cruising around and enjoying it? The press release for the next classics auction at Silverstone came through this morning and it’s chock full of cars from £5k – £20k that you think just have to be worth a punt.

We’ve all got different tastes when it comes to classics and mine is just as weird and varied as the rest of you. Here are the three that I would most like to have on the drive:

1990 Lancia Delta HF Integrale

Do I really need words to tell you why this is car made it on the list? It’s got full Martini livery, is the 8v purists favourite and is only estimated at £7-10k. Imagine spending the summer going to every car event up and down the country and enjoying the reception that this car would undoubtedly receive. The only thing better would the fun had when hooning it across some of Scotland’s finest tarmac.

1974 DATSUN 260Z

I know I’ll take pelters for this but the 260z is one of those classics that just begs to have some modifications done to make it look even cooler than it already is. The wheels and tyres are already a good start but if you have a quick Google you’ll see that there are loads of interesting directions that people have taken the styling of these cars. £14-16k isn’t exactly cheap but it has had a pretty extensive restoration, scores well on the auction report and should be great fun for some summer cruising.

1992 Mercedes G-wagen

Defenders are cool at the moment but G-wagens are just better, aren’t they? Since they cost a stupid amount of money from new they are a much rarer sight than their British rival – but they can justify this by being built from granite. This example looks a little bit shabby but nothing that a good detail inside and out shouldn’t sort. It’s not exactly a summer cruising machine (and it really needs some different wheels) but it would be great for some wild camping in the highlands where you need to make your way miles off road. £16-18k
