Jaguar XE SV Project 8

Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock. If you’ve been waiting on a real performance version of the Jaguar XE, not the ‘warm’ S version, then it’s been a long wait.  Jaguar’s 3 Series rival was released in 2015, but those of us who like our cars fast and loud have been desperate for them to give us a M3 rival.

It seems the wait has been worth it as Jaguar have given us a glimpse at what could be the new segment leader, making the M3, AMG C63 and RS4 look a little…..tame.

Jaguar XE SV Project 8 might be a limited run, 300 cars only, release but it gives us a pretty good idea on what the XE R will look and sound like.

A 600PS version of Jaguar’s 5.0-litre V8 will mean this is the most powerful road legal Jaguar ever (the XJ220 was only 550PS) and should result in some pretty exciting driving.

There’s no word on whether this is two or four wheel drive but my guess would be that the SVR version will be RWD and the R version will come with an all-wheel configuration.

This XE SV Project 8 is the follow on from the popular F-TYPE Project 7 and is designed to be a collector’s item. Considering the Project 7 cost £130k new and the cheapest on Autotrader is currently sitting at £169,950 then the Project 8 could be a depreciation free solution to the question: which sensible four door family car should we buy next?
